Talks and Appearances

Be Sure To Book Early

Elvira is comfortable speaking to large groups or small, depending on the school's needs. For a K-5 or K-6 school she will do a 35-40 minute presentation for K, 1, 2 on picture books and a one hour presentation for 3-6. After lunch she will do one 30 minute workshop with the three oldest grades. This is Q and A, since there isn't time for questions in the assembly.

Elvira will bring her own projector, but she will need:

Pictures are fine, but please no videotaping.

Schedule for the day includes two large presentations - 45 min. to an hour each and one smaller Q&A sessions (half an hour) and book signing (without children present). The very best visits are those in which the students have not only read the author's books, but have been encouraged to do projects, bulletin boards, writing projects, art work etc. etc. in conjunction with the books. In this way the visit sparks much more creativity and the students are far richer for it.

A Note About Book Signing

Elvira will sign books that have names in them. If there are over two hundred books, she requests that the signing be limited to one book per student.
